HOW TO CATCH A SERIAL KILLER ON ONLY CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE!

• it is amazing that the cops or shop keeper, caught these guys . . . they had a system.
• in the Bay area, I believe, but in a smaller jurisdiction, people were going missing at an alarming rate.  Now, most people show up, within several days, and some, 500 per year back in 1990 whatever, went missing, but, most of those people showed up again, but, in this case, these people did not . . . I believe there were about 12 people missing, and, three of those were a family, of a husband, wife and child, that caused concern.
• I am not sure, I can do justice, but I will try, didn't have paper to take notes, and, this was a complicated, long case, that spanned, time and jurisdictions, complications it even more!
• a shop keeper, caught, an Asian man, shoplifting, at a lumber or hardware store . . . this was, Ng, who threw the vice grip, and, ran, while, his partner, Lake, came to his rescue, but nobody connected the two men, at that point, and said he paid for the grip, but the owner, didn't listen and the cops came.  They checked the rust colored, small Nissan, that the shoplifter was, driving, and found, another man's I.D. in the car.  They took Lake into custody, having claimed the car as his.  The cops left the room, leaving Lake to write his statement and story, of the facts, and, when they came back he was flipping on the floor like a fish out of water, and, they discovered that he had taken pills with cyanide in them, and he died.  Ng was alleged to have run to Chicago, and the cops raced to the airport and sure enough, an Asian fitting the description, of Ng, had, purchased a ticket to Chicago, where Ng had relatives and a large network of friends, to hide him.  The cops were frustrated and had to wait until, Ng showed up on some video . . . in the mean time, they started to talk to Lake's ex-wife and others
• when, Lake, killed himself, he wrote a note before, he died and apologized to his mother and his ex-wife.  The cops started there, and, the ex-wife, to their surprise was there with Lake's mother, when, they came.  AS they questioned her, about his comings and goings, and did she know this person or that person, some, neighbors who had gone missing, she was, sort of cooperative, but also, not very.  She mentioned a cabin and property the two had owned together, while married, and, she reluctantly, said she would take the cops there tomorrow.  The told her not to move anything, that might be evidence.
• now at the time, I believe, a massive county, with tons of rural places, had to be policed, by, like, just a dozen or so, sheriffs.  The investigating officers, took about 7 or 8 people with them, to the cabin.  The cops discovered that, the ex-wife and the mother, had been up there the night before, like they told them not to . . . they said Lake was, not a neat house keeper and they wanted to clean the place up a bit before the cops came.  There was a cement bunker in the yard, but, the ex, would not allow the cops to look in it.  They looked around the house and found, pictures of a dozen or so, young women, posing in various stages of undressing.  They could not tell if they were doing this voluntarily, or being forced to pose.  This gave them probable cause for a search warrant, but, while they were there, they didn't want to upset the ex-wife, because the search was voluntary.  They found, a secret door, that led, to another room.  The female detective noticed that, the bed, had, wrist and ankle ties, bored through the posts, that looked like they were trying their victims down, and, who knows what they were doing to them.  Then, they discovered a video, not sure where exactly this came in, but I think on that initial visit to the cabin, but there was a video of two women, being sexually molested, had their clothing cut off, and, were treated, very roughly and bad, by Ng and Lake.  Ng was seen in the tape, with his shirt off, and, looked like he forced one of the women, to give him a back rub.  Ng had been a Marine, formerly an immigrant to the country.  One of the women, was, the wife, and mother, from the missing family.  She begged for her child, and Ng, said that it was better that the child was dead!  The cops were shocked, stunned and dying when they saw this very graphic video, of the type of stuff that the women were made to do, and suffer.  The found, a list of the RULES OF THE MASTER/SLAVE AGREEMENT, hanging on the walls of the back room, behind the secret room, that also had some toiletries and toilet paper.
• several of the cops, noticed that there were 7 burn piles, around the yard, and when they started to dig, they found, all kinds of property and items from the victims, like belts, clothing, necklace, etc.  As they looked closer, they found, bone fragments, that looked, like about 10 lbs. of bones, that appeared to have been, burned, and distributed around the property.  None of the fragments were large enough to identify people.
• the cops got a search warrant, and returned, and it took, weeks, to excavate the property for all the clothing items, and, bone fragments, that ended up being, about 40 lbs of bones.  There were also, several burned out cars that belong to the victims.  Some of these people, had been friends of the men.  
• the family, that had been kidnapped, advertised, the husband's, video equipment, for rent, he did weddings, and was willing to rent out the equipment, for others, when he was not using it.  As the victim's apartment was searched, they found that the husband was, a great person to document, his purchases, and he kept every receipt and, invoice, plus, serial numbers and warranties on his property.  The cop chick, got all the serial numbers of the video and audio equipment and, they tracked that, and found, some of the video equipment at the cabin, I believe and some of the other, stuff at Ng's apartment, tying him to the murders, and sexual assaults, and the baby killing.
• Lake also had both videos of himself, talking about his 20 year fantasy, called, The Miranda Project, where he described his sick, ideas and what he wanted to do with the women.  They also found a journal, that, he documented, the people, he kidnapped, or lured, or killed, and the rapes, and tortures.  This proved, helpful, in knowing what the two had done, but, Lake was dead, and Ng, still on the run.
• eventually, Ng, did what he had done to start this hole case against him, in the first place, he was in British Columbia, and he tried to shoplift, again, and some, security guard, tackled him, after he pulled a gun out of his backpack, when the guard told him to take the item out and return it.  A struggle over the gun ensued, and, the security guard was shot through the hand, but he did get the gun and other guard came to his rescue.  They finally had, Ng.  But this created a jurisdictional nightmare.  BC doesn't recognize extradition, when the person is going to face the death penalty.  With 12 possible, murders, he was involved, in the prosecutor wanted to ask for the death penalty. Eventually the prosecutors struck a deal, that Canada would, try him first, then, send him to the United States to stand trial.  That took 4 years!
• due to the limited resources of Calvaris County, California, the case, was, I believe, assigned to the attorney generals office, and the tons of evidence, was moved, too.  Ng. had become, quite the scholar on the American justice system and he told his cellmates, that to beat the system, all you had to do was keep firing your attorney, which he did.  Finally, they got Ng to trial, but, he was so disruptive, that the judge ordered, a shock, belt be put on him!  LOL.  I have never heard of that, and, if he acted out in court, like he had, the belt would shock him!
• there was a very sharp female attorney, Asian, and she, was able to take all the circumstantial evidence and, either, tie it together for the jury, or she, even was, cunning enough to trick the defendant, or Ng, into admitting, some facts, that had not been released, and, only the killer would know, some term or something connected with the case, that took him, form, drawing about killing the child, to actually, being tied to the murder!  Ng had draw graphic pictures for his British cellmate who ratted him out to the prosecutors and cops.  The rat died in a car accident, with, some, $20,000 in cash from his $33,000, that the government had given him for his testimony and coming forward with the drawings, that, Ng did.  The prosecution was able to bring his testimony in, as evidence,  However the defense was not allowed to take Lake's journal, into evidence, when he was trying to prove, that it was all Lake, and his wife, who got immunity, and gave little to cops who were responsible for the murders.  The judge, said he was not going to allow, the defense to bring in a journal and take out every reference to Ng, out, and then, enter it into evidence, and rightly so!  From the way, the ex-wife, testified, but now with immunity, she may have, actually had more to do with the killings than the cops originally thought, but it was too late and she was actually more helpful to the defense!
• contrary to his attorneys, suggestions, Ng, who threatened to fire his attorneys, if they didn't let him testify, did testify, and did more damage, when the skilled, prosecutor for the state, was able to get, him, to hang himself, with, contradictory testimony.  He said he forgot . . . 
• he was eventually sentenced to death. 
• I am sure, that I left out half of the cool circumstantial evidence and how the proesturos tied it all together, but, you get my point, that, sometimes the most, innocuous, event, like a small, shoplifting case, can blossom into, this massive, case of catching two serial killers and discovering tons of dead bodies!  I have tried to lead cops to where I think the bodies are buried, but, they don't appear to be listening, to really anything I say and that may be, because, this blog gets hacked, and all the good stuff, is taken out first!
