Santa . . . Add My Name To the Good Girls And Boys List . . . Because, It is Hip to Be Square!
This holiday season, there are so many, great efforts and events to hook into! I am not sure, when the Tuesdaygiving, activity is, with advertisements on MSNBC, Misha, an anchor on, Morning Joe, news show, from like 5 to 7 A.M. each morning, or maybe even 4:00 A.M., but, the logo for the event is a heart, with crisscrosses, through it, indicating, acts of love. Maybe that is today, I am not sure, but, the idea, is to share you energy, your joy, your talents, you education, or whatever it is, and contribute that is some form or another to your community, making it a nicer place, making you a nicer person, and as per, yesterday's blog, making you are more joyful and happy person, hitting what really counts, being dedicated to something you feel passionate about, and rather than acting for money, seeing, your contributions of what you have to offer, as a duty, as I do, writing this blog each day! Rather than, singing about, peace of earth, good will to man . . . actually, create peace, and bring good will to man, through your great acts of giving, of YOURSELF, and there is nothing better, nothing more rewarding, and nothing more heart felt and gladly received!
Last night, on the Last Word, with Lawrence O'Donnell, the talk show host, talked about, his efforts, along with a group, called, K.I.N.D., or Kids. In, Need, of Desks! If you are interested, in helping, kids in some country, I didn't catch that, Africa, or somewhere, get desks for their schools, so they can actually sit at a desk, with a bench seat and table, fitting about, 3 to 4 students, per desk, with great, sturdy construction, wood and metal, you can make contributions, to and I am guessing, lastword. com or msnbc.com, as a possible way to get to this organization and charitable effort . . . good stuff! And I am sure, that Fox News or Opinion, being members of the religious right, is doing similar efforts to further their religious beliefs, of feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting those in prison, or taking care of the widow and the fatherless, rather than their normal, charity of giving big tax breaks to the wealthy! Taking the bull by the horn, and doing whatever it is, that will either rival, the liberal press, or outshine them! LOL! We shall see . . .
Someone asked me, why all the Democrats seem to be rich . . . I answered, because they care about others! and God blesses them for their efforts. I am in Kalispell, soon to be run out, of yet, another town, on a rail, for saying this, but, the bus system up here got an F, for service and providing access to the less fortunate, like me, and one of the bus drivers, asked me why, the city fathers and mothers, refuse to put money into the bus system as they do, down in say, Missoula or Bozeman, that I brag about to them, where the bus service is free, goes on Saturdays, and in Bozeman, maybe on Sunday, and there is service, until 9:45 P.M., on several of the most used routes, and this is college related, but the UDASH system, in Missoula, student owned and operated, and the city buses, in Bozeman, run until 2:30 A.M., on weekends, making sure that drunk college students--being responsible drinkers, frequenting the local bars, don't drive home drunk, making all of us, safer!, but, I said, because, the majority up here, are Republicans, they only care about the 53%, not the 47%, you and I belong to, other than in Whitefish, the wealthier and more Democratic, section of the Flathead Valley, with a city motto of Love . . . you do the math! LOL!
Local Columbia Falls, MT., Man, Teaches Vets to Fish, Rather than Just Giving Them A Fish . . . Repairs Old Fishing Rods . . . Gives to Vets!
What a great idea . . . we are all familiar with the saying, if you give a man a fish, he has food for one meal, if you, teach a man to fish, he has food for his whole life! What a great idea! REEL REPAIRS! Allen Erickson, a veteran himself, was at the local food bank, and realized, as he picked up some food, to make it from paycheck to paycheck, on a fixed income, that, if he could get Vets, fishing rods, they, could literally, sustain themselves, from paycheck to paycheck, veterans benefits to veterans benefits, and believe me, stretching that dollar or two, is hard to do as food prices, living expenses, housing and other things tend to creep up in prices, with benefits, not creeping up at the same rate, that fishing, as MANY vets do, in addition to staying at homeless shelters, or camping out, during the summer months, just to make a half decent life for themselves, usually, living alone, with little contact and connection to family or children, getting a free fishing rod, can make all the difference.
Many of our vets, have a hard time, fitting back into the daily grind, having experienced, PTSD, and other service related, trauma and injury, or just, getting cynical about life in general, feeling that, there service, was neither, respected, nor admired, with many of us, too chicken shit to put on fatigues and camoflauge, let alone carry a gun and go to the deserts of Afghanistan, or Iraq, now Syria, Libya and other regions of the world, knowing that what happened in Vietnam, is being repeated, by way of cooking the books to make our efforts, globally, look better than, they really are, so that Congress and the public, will continue to rah, rah, and send troops and money, after we are war torn and weary. But, for whatever, reason, many of the men, I rub shoulders with, are our truly brave, men and women, of our armed services! Some, like to get into the wilds, near nature, where there is peace, and the only wild life, they want to participate in, is, seeing the deer, elk, bear, moose, or sitting quietly, by a stream, and forget, what they have been through, for you and I! So, hats off to this wonderful man, who I know, is meeting a great need, and one, that, provides, some distraction, from the horrors of war, with the challenge, of catching a fish, or wondering if you are smarter than a bull trout! LOL!
