JOHN WESLEY'S RULE
I BELIEVE HE IS THE FOUNDER OF THE LUTHERAN CHURCH, AND I FOUND THIS, THOUGHT ON A POSTER ON THE WALL, OR IN A PICTURE FRAME
DO ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN,
BY ALL THE MEANS YOU CAN,
IN ALL THE WAYS YOU CAN,
IN ALL THE PLACES YOU CAN,
IN ALL THE TIMES YOU CAN,
TO ALL THE PEOPLE YOU CAN, AS LONG AS YOU CAN.
Do not grow weary of doing good. --1 Thessalonians 3:13. the one who does good is of God. --3 John 3:11.
This morning, on KISW 99.9 radio talk show, for the community, there were two cool, community projects, talked about:
ART SANCTUARY CENTER
A lady, named Mary, was, actually, at church, when, she saw a bunch of kids, showing their macaroni noodle, art, to their parents, and, she watched how excited the parents were, and, how cool it was for the kids, to have that affirmative approval of their works of art.
Mary wondered how, she could take that experience, and turn that into an actual benefit, to other kids, who might not have, church, or parents, or who were homeless, or traumatized, by one thing or another in life. She started the Art Sanctuary Center, in, the Community Lutheran Church, somewhere here locally, rented, and it is basically, a group of rooms, that are, art studios! The idea is to give the kids, a place to come off the streets, have art as a release from their daily lives, a place of sanctuary, a place to explore their talents and possibly work into employment. The group, trains the kids, in skills, jobs related to the arts, like, t-shirt screening, they show them, how to write resumes, and interview for jobs, plus, work on jobs, that others, have come to the center, to get done, for the kids benefit and other causes.
One such project is, the band, Pearl Jam, always, contributing to the homeless, like giving, a portion of their ticket sales, to the homeless, as they did in Missoula, Montana . . . but at their concert here in Seattle, one I advertised on my blog, for, particularly, because of the charitable aspect of that, but, Pearl Jam heard of the Center, and had the kids, or teens, create and make the t-shirts that were then, distributed to the merchants to sell at the concert here in Seattle, like a year ago!
The CEO, said, Pearl Jam gave the kids, 10 free tickets to the concert, and they were so excited to run around the stadium and see, their own, t-shirts and designs being sold, at the show! It is interesting, that, the CEO, found the Art Sanctuary, when, he and his band, could no longer, practice where they were at, too loud, so they, got to play at this place, a church? Cool. At that time they were looking for someone to run the place, and he applied and got the job!
PERFECT!
THEY HAVE COMMUNITY SUPPORT, AND THE ART SCREENING STUDIO, EARNS, MUCH OF WHAT SUPPORTS THE OTHER AREAS OF THE CENTER!
THE POWER OF ONE OR THREE AND A TEACHER!
