The Woman In the Box

Several months ago, I watched this true crime special, about a young girl, I forget where from, because that is insignificant, who wanted to go to a relative's birthday party, but she did not drive; therefore, she got her thumb out, thinking it would be safe, and choosing, a husband and wife, team, to catch a ride with, believing she would be safe, getting a ride to the next town.  Seven years later, raped, beaten, battered, sexually assaulted, hung, chained from the ceiling, forced to stand on books, for balance, with the fear of falling off, trapped, and put in a chamber, the husband built for her, under, he and his wife's bed, locked away, day after day, night after night, until the wife, and the young girl, now, a young woman, both got interested in the Bible and were allowed to go to church together, leading to the girl, now woman's escape.  But, at the onset, the man had constructed this box, that was made of wood, large enough, for the girl's head, with a whole for her neck, and then shut over her entire face--without holes for her to see out of, locked in place with a latched metal lock, with a lock, and key, so she was unable to see, where they took her and could keep her totally in the dark, until, later, when she was released.  

When I saw this, I was struck, by the symbolic similarities, between the head box, and being locked, under the marital bed of a husband and wife, for fucking 7 years, having to listen to them fuck all night and listen to the sick depravities, two people such as this, would participate in, seeing the wife, had earlier been her captor and now husband's, previous prisoner and sex slave, prior to marrying the man, later, picking this girl up on the road, that day to the birthday party.  Experts, figured that the young woman, after 7 years, and not running, originally was a victim of the Stockholm Syndrome where the victim comes to identify with, her kidnappers, even being taken home to visit her family, acting like he was her boyfriend.  Psychologist, thought that she, knew that, her very survival, even in the company of her family, depended, on treating this man, actually, even like a lover.  In my particular situation, I was probably, after being poisoned, and taken psychologically, to places, I had never been in my life before, as far, as insecurity, vulnerability, susceptibility, and even, looking more and more, like an orchestrated, and prearranged meeting, to facilitate the steal of my son's music and allowing, Shelley, a crone, and later, if not earlier, lover of Brett's, with me suspecting, that Isaac, was Brett's son, not Chris Wanless' like, family had suspected.  Thus the substitution, of Elliot, who Brett heard play, for Isaac, and God's Revolver, being subbed in for The Alamo, Frank, Interpol connections, to steal the epic western that few people would associate with Utah, better, cowboy state, home of the Texas Rangers, and cop hell, for Elliot, claiming the music was rooted in that state, rather than Utah! the true place of origin!

Hiding His Personal Life, To Further, His Professional Standing

I believe, it was Brett's personal life he wanted to hide, holding one wife captive under the bed of another--refusing to divorce me, nor sign the simplest form as proof of divorce, claiming, Kay, to be me, figuratively, doing every bit, as much damage, through cruel emotional punishment, even when not with him, as this man, did to this girl, with 7 years of shear hell, kept under the bed, as in my case, with Brett refusing to sign anything, nor let me go, holding me, so that Kay, could, use my worth, as an attorney, my name, resume, credentials, being anything but an average attorney, with Kay going into debt, at an alarming rate of $10,000 per month in her shitty law practice, as average as the day is long.  I believe, Brett either knew Kay, and Shelley, and set this up, prior to meeting me, or, Shelley having lived in Logan, surely would have, either been in college classes with Brett back in the day, hooked up, since, neither of them have any morals, time, during their common stay, and lives, that intersected, through, the biology department, I would surmise, bringing in Professor Bruce Bugsby, for the pre-arranged dinner, after Brett had asked me, who I thought was a rival, or at least, in my same class of women, other than the fact, that I had already been fucked up, and went from being general counsel, for the Utah Medical Association, a professor of family law, owning my own, anger management company, and writing computer programs for the elderly, on the Internet, having also been, both staff attorney, for the Utah Division of Aging, and a family law professor, having also worked with the Governor's Counsel on Aging, and dealt with abuse and elder scams, at the Utah Attorney Generals Office . . . allegedly, given credit to Shelley, Kay, Rachel, Sue, Tiff or whoever in the fuck, this time? as with everything I did!

Now, I don't know, if Brett, was a common street thug, and serial killer, which he alluded to, having, when drunk, once talked about a friend, wink, who was drunk, and slit, his friend's throat, out in the front yard, during a teenage party, but, was let off the hook, because his mother, or some relative, worked at the sheriff's department, small town, Mo-ville.  Brett's grandparents, owned, RSM or RMS Foods and Catering Business in Logan and were quite wealthy, and since Brett's parents, divorced when he was 2 years old, his grandparents, played a huge role in his life.  He was still devastated, by the accidental death of his grandparents, allegedly hit by a car, after the opera, at the Eccles Theater one night.  Or, he could be, an FBI agent, having seen, what looked like Brett, in a October TV special on cults, like the David Koresh, and the Branch Davidians, who were burned out, in a stand off with federal officers, in Waco, Texas, back in, what, the 90's, noticing him, due to the fact, that a man, who had, just previous to the special, by six months, had talked to me for hours, at the St. George Temple grounds, when, my work, helping, some local and statewide, Constitutional groups in Utah, plan a Utah Liberty Conference . . . intercepted over the Internet, after I had worked 12 fucking hours through the night, to have it stolen, right in front of my eyes, but, sounding like retired FBI agent, Byron Sage, got a copy, when, I, the writer, didn't get it . . . sounds like a familiar pattern for these fuckers, I do all the work, and it lands in the hands of some fucking fed, who then gives credit, to his bitch, and by this time, Brett and Kay, aka, ME, would have been together, after I left him!  Payback is a bitch, let me tell you, married for, 18 months, going on 10 fucking years, through my proxy, KAY!

The Box is Symbolic of Trapping My Intellectual Properties

You know in all the years, that I worked on domestic violence, for the attorney generals office, writing the manual, while staff attorney, for the Utah Prosecution Council, Criminal Enforcement Division--nice titles for an FBI agent's wife, not to mention, the women, who took down the cops and prosecutors, with asset forfeiture, and saved the docs from Medicaid/Medicare investigations, pushing around the FBI, after poisoning me and telling me I was dying, taking me down to a fucking 5 year old mental level, but, having never, once, even until recently, considered myself a batter woman, other than by the statewide and nationwide, battering systems, cops, prosecutors and judges, more recently in the past 4 years, and, when I would do a presentation, which I did all the fucking time, not only on the manual, but prior to the manual, training doctors, cops, social workers and working with judges, I was often asked, given my passion for helping batter women, if I had been abused, myself, as I would always laugh, and say, no, I am more likely to be the batterer, than the abused . . . kind of like I am now, bullying these sorry saps, and fuckers around; however, in the last, I would say, two months, or less, each morning when I put on my make up, eye shadow, to be more specific, almost without exception, after I get my whole face decked out, like magic or tragic, either, some of the shadow, falls onto my face, making it look like I have a black eye.

The Usual Suspects, Abusive Husbands, and Father!  Defending the Indefensible!

The very strange thing is, that even, like today, when I am very careful, to make sure that all the darker, color, is not going to fall on my face, making the mark, inevitably, some, seems to come out of fucking, nowhere, to make the dark, and look of a bruised or black eye, pissing the shit out of me!  I do my eye's evenly, but, it is always the same eye, and no matter how careful, I am, that seems to happen, where I have to put make-up, over that spot, much like a abused and battered woman, would do, to cover a black eye, with God, my Intel, guy, informing me, over and over again, that, I was, and continue to be a batter woman, with former, husbands, and lovers, husbands, basically, beating the shit out of me, never touching me, since I have never, ever, been physically hit.  But, as many victims of abuse, have told me, the emotional and psychological scars are worse than the physical abuse, of laying hands on you, leaving bruises and marks, or broken bones, that, eventually will heal.  The psychological and emotional wounds, are the hardest to detect, and take the longest to heal, especially, the way they were administered, forcing me underground, under the martial bed, using my marriage, my name, my family to further the abuse, and keep me under the bed, so to say, preferring Kay Baby, since she is no threat to the family, my father and his other more average daughters . . . Kay can take on the traits and characteristics, because she is an attorney, and probably spent more time with me, in junior high and high school, than any of my family members, given, drill team, debate and working together! 

However, emotional, psychological, threats, to family members, to myself personally, through, cops, following me, tracking me, chasing me, trying to intimidate me, and I would guess at the direction of, either and ex-husband, Brett or Frank, or through, Shelley, who claims to be me, or my father, who did, fucking beat the shit out of me and still is trying to make me cry, bring me under his control, or trying to make me submit to this family shit, like, a, standing aside and letting the bitch squad of fraud broads, made up of sisters, and his other daughters, more compliant and mailable daughters, and allow, them, as in the case of Jeb Bush, the right to rise, from behind my shadow, deciding that I have had too much of the limelight over the years, and they, should, with Kay, be allowed to divide up my life and share the glory, in addition to sharing the kids and grand kids, because, neither Kay, nor Brett were good parents and I would guess are embarrassed of the children, they had to do with, so they want to claim, mine, that I took care of, and now ingratiate themselves, and demonizing me, or making offers they can't refuse, and doing all in their powers to alienate parental affection, where there was none, before!  It is as if, bullying me out of my homes, my law practice, taking my vehicles and chasing me for fucking 4 years, to hide the fact, that, it is I, not Brett's lover, lay, mistress, whore, who did, cases, and everything before that, it is that, woman, he keeps under the bed, refusing, to let me surface, until, I got, the insight, on psychopaths, and their nature, seeing exactly what he did, the motives, and serving only himself . . . had, Kay been the one, with the resume, and I was the way, I was prior to the feds, taking it to me, the roles would be reversed!  Ego, arrogance, pride, status, and name . . . name brand wife, un-known wife, wearing the mask!

The Song Playing--I Fooled Around and Fell in Love

I am not exactly sure, which way this thing goes, if he was with Kay first, and he fooled around with me, or if he was with me, and fooled around with Kay, which did happen, then, have the fucking balls, as a man, to take the whole person, loser, law practice, debt, name, resume, fucking lazy, spoiled kids, and man up, loving her . . . not, loving what I did, and loving her looks, or sex, or whatever the fuck you like in the lollipop, chick, with a boy's body and boobs, fake, I am sure!  The breast men, real or fake, all I know, are fake!  LOL!  Except me, and I am are real as my resume, and they are as fake, as their fucking boobs!  You see, I have no problem with Brett meeting Kay, even messing around with her, and loving her, ditching my ass, or me ditching him, as I did, and cutting our losses, divorcing, giving up, what both of us, contributed to the marriage the union, but, to get used to the credibility, I brought, the kids, I brought, to the marriage, and turn, around, and say, I am keeping this, and giving ALL this to Kay, or someone else, always, the women, closest to me!  Song on: Your a hard habit to break . . . really, so, a why didn't you work with me?

I feel the same with Frank, aka, Allan, Kennedy, if they want, Rachel, or Shelley, or whomever, then they get their whole fucking package, their careers, their debts, their money, their kids, their grand kids, etc., you don't, even as federal agents, get my, famous, name in the cop world, and say, well, I like your background, better, therefore, I am going to pick and chose, her face, her tits, her looks, but I am keeping everything, that I would have had with you, and then, hold you down, lie, tell shit, make up stories, trash me, try to frame me, have me arrested, jailed, and steal, my cases, etc.  NO, you made your bed, cheating or not, and you get the bitch you were in heat with!  I have never, forced someone, resisted, a man, finding, someone he like better, and letting him go, in fact, I felt that Brett went better than I did with Kay, seeing I WAS FUCKING DYING, or so I thought at the time and that is beside the point, she was into mountain biking, roller blades, and whatever, and I thought Brett deserved to have someone that was not dying.  Had, I at the time, had any idea, that I would be fighting for MY IDENTITY AND CREDENTIALS, AND LEAST OF WHICH, THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO FIGHT FOR MY OWN FAMILY . . . I would have just shot the shit out of your sorry loser ass then!  God!  Jesus, this is, plain and simply, just, unfathomable, that any would even consider, doing what these fucks, did, let alone, TRY TO KILL ME, OVER AND OVER, AND OVER AGAIN!  Fucking amazing, and getting supported by fucking EVERYONE?  GOD!

Okay, so, for one day, I decided to play nice, be the angelic woman, rather than the evil woman, the cops think, I am, and, it was nice, to not have, cops, riding my ass, tracking me as I get off the bus, or some lame ass, sting op, waiting for me, back at the Pov.; however, on the way, home, on the, like 5:45 P.M. bus, leaving, the Southgate Mall, going inbound, after a man, whom, I had noticed, just briefly, at the Mall, because, he stood out, to me, as a guy, who, over his dead body, would not be caught on the bus . . . I'm talking, King Ranch, extended cab, F-350 Ford Truck, guy, not your green, natural gas, socially and environmentalist, Millennium, commuter, so, of course, I noticed him, but, the bus was packed, and I was more concerned about, getting my mug, on the surveillance cameras, for identification purposes, than, thinking, stud man, is looking at me.  But, as this dude, gets off the bus, somewhere, I was rocking to my $9.98 Wally's World radio, hooked to my shirt, and sucking on some candy kisses, and didn't hear the bus driver at first, ask me if I knew the guy who just got off the bus?

The Princess and the Frog

This is so cute, and reminded me of The Princess and the Frog fairy tale . . . there are three bright, colorful pictures, magical and fun, that could be purchased together in a threesome, or individually, because each one, would lighten up any wall, especially, in some little princess of yours, bedroom!

I Have Only Had Four "C's" In My Entire School Career

This picture reminds me of my first "C" grade, I had ever had, that was both, funny and tragic to me.  I had a communications class, as a sophomore at Bountiful High School, Bountiful, Utah, and we had to give a speech, long before, I became adept, at public speaking, now, I can speak to thousands and not blink an eye, nor prepare, and going into court, was like, where is my audience?  Court was a step down for me, having spoken to full states public employees, or governor's conferences, statewide accountants, and being the keynote speaker, for 1300 kids, interested in a profession in the medical field.  So, to give, those of you, who fall into the category of, having the most common fear, of all, public speaking, are not alone, this little story, brought to my mind, the catacombs of my memory, and dusted off the cobwebs, reminding me of my very humble roots, as a public speaker.  So, I was given a speech assignment, and as I pondered on what to give a speech on, my baby sister, Tiffany's, bean bag, frog, was laying on the floor in front of me, and that reminded me of a story, I had read her, The Princess and the Frog, and I decided, since, I believe, it was close to Valentine's Day, that a romantic story, of finding true love, that I too, have longed for, my whole fucking life, but, not a swearing person at that time, decided this would be fun, and a change from, some of the boring topics the teacher had been disgusting, like, the Mei Lye, Massacre that took place during the Vietnam War.  Needless to say, the teacher was not amused, nor entertained by my props, and antics.

The roots of the clown, where starting to show, as early as this class.  I started tell the story of the beautiful princess, searching for true love, and her knight in shining armor, and how she wandered into the forest, and sat by a small pond, and while I sat, acting out the story, as if it were a play, reminding you this was a speech class, not a theater class . . . but, I secretly, tied, the bean bag, frog to my ankle, and as I was leaving the pond and the sitting position, as in the story, the frog, attached to my ankle, appears, and shows up, just right, for the frog, wearing a crown, to yell to the princess, before she leaves, to come kiss him, and he will turn into a prince.  The class, busted up into hysteria, laughing, pounding the desk, and cracking up, over, seeing this rather dead, looking toy, although green and in the shape of a frog, tied to my ankle under my, stylish, long, empire or granny dress, that day.  And as I denied, that a frog, could be a prince, nor my true love, playing to the audience and taking, editorial license, in amping up the dialogue, between the princess, me, and the frog, the class, nearly lost control, with me, also, getting out of control, trying not to laugh, during my very romantic, interlude with the frog.  As I was enjoying the attention, the joking and fun atmosphere, I glanced over at my very, no, nonsense speech teacher, probably thinking I was making a mockery of her class, and noticed, that she was not laughing at all!  LOL!  So, I wrapped it up and concluded, turning the frog into a prince, with just one little kiss!  Just one kiss, and you'll be mine, a one track mind . . . rock lyrics!

A cruel and shocking act . . . giving me a "C!" when everyone, enjoyed my speech so much!  I was not laughing when I got my grade!  LOL!  Funny now, but, depressing then.  That was not my final grade, just one of several speeches, but I got serious really fast . . . later went on to debate, not taking it a whole lot more serious, but, being more selective on my subject matter!  Crazy ass, even back then!  LOL!  The thing that makes it even more funny, and I was just reminded, and remembered, my teacher's name, I believe, although, I tried to block it from my mind, after that grade, but, I have another negative connotation with her name, NOW . . . Ms. Buttars!  Kay Burningham Brown Buttars! Scream, then, my friend, now, a total emissary, or enemy!  Forged, and got credit, with others, have to have multiples to confuse and protect, the bitches from discovery and prosecution, all under my name, but with 6 brains, coming out of my head!  Very interesting Watson!  For the intellectually curious, I got a "C" as a junior in Chemistry, and also, a "C" as a freshman, in a premed Physiology calls at Utah State University, and luck to get that . . . Shelley is the biologist, I am into the HUMANITIES!  I also, got a "C" in a communications class, for a similar reason, not, doing what the professor told me, and I was straight "A" by now, but I was told that I was to present an oral rendition of an annotated version of a poem, and again, being the housewife, going through college, and close to a Christmas, I decided to present, for this children's literature class, my great-grandmother's poem, called, Old Santa Claus!  I was pissed that, 10 years or so, later, I made the same mistake, and this time, I was much more into being the perfect student, Honored Humanities, Outstanding English Major!  SCREAMMMM, but I ended up getting an "A" out of the class, as I did in all classes at that point in my college career.

Just this morning in the Missoulian, there was an article, coming out of Governor Bullock's Office, extending, anti-discrimination to include, again, gender, pregnancy, and something else, and every day, in the classified, somewhere, there is an anti-discrimination, text box and reminder to people, landlords and employers, that they can't discriminate against people!

Locals, Being Part of the Solution!

I have been wanting to acknowledge, several, local, and locally owned, franchises of national companies, who are, right there, lining up with the Pope, and Me:

• Drive Out Hunger: Midas Muffler, is supporting three meals, for every oil change, you and, I was going to say, I, but I no longer have a vehicle, car bombed, totally, 10,000 meals for the hungry living in the communities, that Midas serves . . . as individuals, many on limited, or normal incomes, wonder what we can do to help, someone in need . . . well, every car needs to get an oil change, and for the same price, you can, get that done, and know that there are three meals, attached to your change, that will then go to the people, who are hungry in the community!  What a great way to help out.  Here in Montana . . . 1 in 5 children go to bed hungry each month!  And we have people like, Ted Turner, of Turner Classics, David Letterman, huge ass ranches, both of them, Justine Timberlake and Jennifer Beals, Andy McDowell, Connie Chung and Mari Povitch, Tom Brokaw, and the likes, living here in Montana, had the billionaires conference for the American Muscle and Hustlers, in Whitefish, Montana?  Come on, get real, guys and gals, chicks and chaps, this is chicken feed for you guys!
• Energy Partners Propane: People who care, are people who share . . . for those of you, who want everyone, every child especially, who lives in the area, to have a warm home, to live, eat, and study in, making a huge ass difference, in the way they perform at school, you can give small amounts, or large amounts, and take some of the burden off, parents, single moms, who are not only struggling to put food on the table, but to keep their kids warm . . . Montana can get fucking cold.  But, this is another way, that if you are not a billionaire, you can help, in a small way, that makes a big difference!

NOT!  I am sitting on the west side of the fast food restaurant, in the second booth, looking at two surveillance cameras, flipping you NSA shits the bird!  It is 10:53 A.M., Mountain Time (Denver).  I am wearing black and teal colors, glasses, no hat, my black coat is covering my navy green and black backpack, I have a Diet Coke, sitting at my computer, with the Rolling Stone Magazine, Trumps, pissed off mug on the cover, and my personal journal or notebook, that is red, says, Live, Laugh, Love . . . I will hold them up for your to see, and verify! My little red book, has all my notes, for the last two weeks blogs, that can prove, that I am the blogger, not the playboy bunny, or playmate!  NO FUCKING WAY!  As if the chest is not a clue, although, when with the bunny, you don't notice her face, totally, bigger, bigger features, Roman nose, wider, longer hair, blonder, and she is fucking, 3 to 4 inches taller, still, my younger sister, by 7 years . . . I just look younger, smile!

Pope Francis (Mark) . . . Take It Away!

• For his part, the pope has maintained a relentless focus on his own obsessions--the poor and the dispossessed of the world, and how their lives are ravaged by unbridled capitalism, a grotesque and insatiable consumer culture, climate change, globalization--in powerful, plain-spoken language that is the opposite of anodyne and that oat times places him, rhetorically at least, far to the left not only of the Republican Party but of most Democrats, certainly President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
• On a trip to Bolivia in July, Francis, quoting a fourth-century bishop, referred to the unfettered pursuit of money as the dung of the devil, and blasted a new colonialism that "appears as the anonymous influence of mammon: corporations, loan agencies, certain "free trade" treaties and the imposition of measures of austerity which always tighten the belt of workers and the poor.
• Perhaps even more disorienting to the right wing, Francis also directly addressed man-made global warming in an astounding 180-page encyclical, largely a broadside against the myopic, profit-driven environmental policies threatening our planet.
• , , , with the help of scientific adviser, Francis methodically describes a crisis of global environmental deterioration, and sets the blame squarely upon human greed and shortsightedness, compulsive consumerism and a throw away culture, which affects the excluded just as it quickly reduces things to rubbish.
• (You think the Mormon Church, is not doing exactly what I said they are . . . think again!).  It's a far cry from the recent past, when conservative U.S. bishops have effectively worked as unofficial dirty-tricks operatives for the GOP, denying Communion or issuing warnings to pro-choice Catholics like John Kerry, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
• People can distort the Bible any way they want to, but when you have science and religion on the same side of a question, there's no place for fundamentalists to go.  You speak against the pope at your own risk.
• The oppressed workers, above all, ought to be liberated from the slavery of greedy men, who inordinately use human beings as things for gain.
• The core of the Gospels, as Francis reminds us, is mercy, kindness, caring for the poor, "judge not, lest ye be judged", . . . There is nothing about gays in the Gospel, but this stuff is very explicit.
• Something exists that is owed to man just because he is man . . . he noted that the church has always, distanced itself from capitalistic ideology, holding it responsible for grave social injustices.
• Pope Benedict . . . called for a redistribution of wealth in a 2009 encyclical.
• He, referring to Francis, understands that capitalism succeeded where Marxism failed when it comes to pushing God to the sidelines.  Instead of erecting one giant God in the form of the party, we do it with a million little Gods in the aisles of the department store.
• Rush Limbaugh and others have mischaracterized Francis' message . . . "A man of religion, the Vicar of Christ, seems to have fallen in with the Communist way of doing things. . . . You gotta keep on giving until you're no longer rich!"  What did Christ say to the rich young man, in the New Testament . . . when he asked, what he could do to follow Christ, after doing much, Christ said, give all your money to the poor and come follow me . . . and the young man, turned and walked away. (I couldn't help adding that, lol, I was going to get a master's in ancient scripture study, so . . .)
• What has the right so jumpy about Francis is the size of his bully pulpit, which even unlimited spending might not be able to counter.  Consider, for instance, the 24/7 global media coverage Francis' U.S. trip will receive.  When else would an economic message as critical of capitalism as Francis' be granted such a stage?
• I think the pope is challenging all of us . . . He ain't a Democrat.
• . . . It made me realize that if you're going to be a faithful Catholic, it's going to put you at odds with both conventional American liberalism and conservatism.  (Kind of like the Constitution?  Preamble . . . God's Gospel in law!  Smile . . . too conservative for liberals, and too liberal for conservatives, right in the middle, where the Constitution should be, a compromise, what politics is!  Like I said, me and the pope, got it goin' on.)
• This month, (September issue . . . remember, I have to wait for donated Rolling Stone issues, living at a homeless shelter!  Old news, still good news, and new to most of you!) Francis further startled conservatives by announcing that, during the church's upcoming Holy Year of Mercy--a special yearlong jubilee focusing on themes of forgiveness--priests could absolve women who'd had abortions, noting he was well aware of the pressure that has led them to this decision.
• All politicians are going to try to get some of the Francis shine on them . . . The thing I'm more interested in is the effect Francis will have on the American laity.  I like to think American Catholics and Christians will be willing to listen to what the pope has to say and be challenged by it.  But, I don't know if we're that kind of country anymore.  I don't think liberals or conservatives are ready to make any big changes based on what he says.  But more than that, Americans are so individualistic, and he's got a very big job to break through that.  Whether it's individual sexual morality or the free market economy, we want what we want and will figure out how to get it, and how to rationalize it.
• Our goal is not to amass information or to satisfy curiosity, but rather to become painfully aware, to dare to turn what is happening to the world into our own personal suffering and thus to discover what each of us can do about it.
