CNN, UNITED SHADES OF AMERICA!

Remember, the ad, I wrote about, the bright yellow and white, happy, VW bus, with documentary film MC, driving around the country, meeting people, young, old, every shade of brown, yellow, black, white, cream colored, including three hooded, KKK, members, crowding everyone in this one happy bus, driving around the country, listening to music, talking, laughing and getting to know each other?  Yeah, well, last night, I watched, I believe the first, segment, of what I believe is a week long special, taking that theme to the streets, with Kamau, stopping in places like east Los Angeles, just getting out on the streets, and talking to Latinos, about, assimilation, migration, anchor babies, deportation, getting to know them as people, going into homes, eating dinner with families, who are in various stages of becoming citizens, starting with members at the work permit stage, to the residency, and onto becoming citizens, the challenges of each stage of this process, that can take up to 20 years to complete, and that is given the fact that some emigrant doesn't get a corrupt INS attorney, taking money and turning them over to ICE, Immigration, Customs and Enforcement cops.

Bell, had a bit of a tough time, right off the bat, to get Hispanics to talk to him, another shade in America, that Hispanics may not be as acclimated to, but, eventually, he hooked up with a cool band, and I was impressed, and they seemed to want to take away the stereotype, of all Hispanics being rapists, and not the best people, who are coming across the border from Mexico . . . but there were at least two of the five band members who had master's degrees, one other band member, had just gotten accepted to his Ph.D. program, and the others had college degrees . . . their band, music and practice area, was traditional colorful Mexican decor, bright, beautiful, fun, alive, with primary colors!  Kamau Bell, talked to an LA Latino city council member, and it was fun to get his take on all of this, and what the make up of LA, population is, and, just like the country, the color of American in general is changing.  I think, I heard, that, the number of Hispanics, coming to America, has dropped, significantly from like 850,000 before the 2008 economic melt down in America, with Bush, being somewhere at 350,000 lately, but Asians, now are the largest and fastest number of emigrants, who are coming to America!  Most of the people interviewed, said, they loved being in America, where they could give their families a better future, but, they were free to hang onto their own, culture, and share that with the people of America . . . I loved celebrating Cinco De Mayo, a few years ago in Park City, Utah, huge fun fiesta, all free, to having nothing celebrated in Montana . . . not many Hispanics want to brave the cold up in this part of the country!  LOL!

Fun, stuff and what a great idea . . . good on you, Mr. Bell, and CNN!  Why Can't We Be Friends . . . I believe, that the next segment, as Mr. Bell works his way across the country, letting us all get to know each other, is viewing on CNN at 10:00 ET, so check your, TV schedules or watch for ads to see when tonight's show is on.  I enjoyed it immensely!

Green Bronx Machine, Stephen Ritz, and the First Lady

In Michelle Obama's push to get kids up off the couch, into the yard to play, out during recess at school, or exercising at home, part of her efforts, as First Lady, has been to push everything from gardens on the south lawn of the White House, to her personal and family chef, using garden vegetables, grown at the White House, for dinners entertaining heads of foreign states and countries, to working with innovative and fun people, like Stephen Ritz, dressed like a funny farmer, with a hat that looks like cheese, with holes in it, who has gone into the inner city schools, to get kids to eat right, to fight obesity, which seems to come with low income, high carb, diets of mac'n cheese, or pasta based dinners, that are cheaper, there has been a team effort, for the elementary school kids, to actually grow their own veggies and herbs, that the school uses in their school lunches, to be grown, right at the schools, with great men, and I know there were several men and probably women, involved in this effort, teaching kids to plant seeds, grow gardens, to harvest what they grow, how to care, water and weed a garden!  Gardening is the #1 hobby in the WORLD!  So, not only are these great public servants, teaching kids, to eat better, they are giving them the tools, for good mental health!  Studies have shown, that, people who garden, who dig in the dirt, get back to the our Mother Earth, find peace, solace, quiet, and find great rewards, planting and tending a garden!

What a great sight, to see beautiful greens growing all over classrooms in the cement jungles of the Bronx . . . this program needs to go into every school in America, who wonderful!  We have all heard that, mantra, give a man a fish, and he has food for one meal . . . teach him how to fish and he has food for a lifetime!  Gardens fall into this same category!  Such cool ideas!  As I saw this, mixed in with the elections, I wondered, what have the Republicans done for the common man, woman and child?  Tax cuts for the rich, big business benefits and protections? and what about the rest of us?  Mr. Trump, what are you going to do? Do the billionaire shuffle?  We are real people, with real issues, with real BODIES, with real families, and we need real solutions!  President Bill Clinton, came from a home of an alcoholic father, I believe abusive to his mother, who then raised the future president of the United States, basically alone, for years, later to be married, to a good man, seeing her son, raise to the ranks of the elite in the world, not bad.  Same with President Barack Obama, who never even met his dad, until he was 10 years old!  Mr. Ritz, the farmer, said, who knows, maybe one of these kids from the Bronx, will be a future president of the United States, and that is the AMERICAN DREAM, right there folks!
