President's Day--Thank You All for Serving Us!

Last week, after getting up at 2:00 a.m., a sting op at the Poverello Palace, rather the Import Palace with cops galor, undercover . . . I asked to be excused from checking in, so I could attend a lecture on President Lincoln, and how he used the United States Constitution--right up my alley, and using the document, to enact the Proclamation Declaration, which freed the slaves in Union states, leading to Civil War with the South, being the bloodiest body count of all wars, put together, from that point thereafter--over 600,000, if my memory serves, but a shit load of bodys, and collateral damage, but leading to a United States of American, rather than two separate entities, with different values, freedoms, rights and laws, also leading to the ratification of the 13th amendment, giving black men the right to vote!  Just a week or so ago, someone described, a young man, with deep depression, suicidal throughts, a terrible home life, and even friends, who had to take all the razors, out of his house, and that young man, was President Abraham Lincoln!  Along with 3 other presidents, gave his life for what he believed . . . now if that isn't a sacrifice, what is?

 

Talk about a forward looking, determined, brave, and asute politician, Lincoln was simply amazing, given the background, coming out of a single room log cabin, a horrible relationship with his father, not seeing him for the last 25 years of his life, battling with depression, and without the best marriage, always a struggle, and his son, I believe died fighting for the Union and his father's cause, then the assassination.  Being a president, if not just a big ego job, it is tedeous, endless hours, demanding men, so far, to be at their best, at a second's notice, when some regional, national, or global crisis arises . . . and we bitch and moan, about President Obama taking a little time off!  Perhaps, he is so smooth, so eloquent, and smart, he takes it all in stride, but I doubt it, even though he is totally amazing, six years, what he had to deal with, the prejudices alone, amazing and what he has accomplished, is astounding!  And do we thank him, or denigrate him?  Denegrate . . . disgusting!

 

I thought it might be fun, to take some fun facts about past presidents and give you a picture of what some of them thought, what challenges they had, the character or intellectual traits that made them great men and leaders.  For ease of both writing and reading, I will put it in my signature form of bullets . . . shot out of the gun of my heart, for the respect, and honor I have for these men, so far, men only.  I may not agree with them on their politics, but I admire the hell out of them for what they either did or tried to do, or tried to stop . . . I am going to limit this to founding fathers, who were later presidents.

Know Your Presidents Better

• George Washington gave the shortest inauguration speech in American history on March 4, 1793 . . . it was only 133 words long (NSA fucks are on this . . . national security? harassment!)
• Washington was a man of few words, whose political ascension was attributable to his character, not his intellect
• William Henry Harrison gave the longest at 8,443 words on March 4, 1841, on a cold and blustery day in Washington, D.C.  He died one month later of a severe cold!
• John and Abigal Adams had the longest marriage, one lasting 54 years
• upon graduating from Harvard, John Adams became a grammar school teacher.  My little school, like the great world, is made up of Kings, politicians, divines, fops, buffoons, fiddlers, fools, coxcombs, sycophants, chimney sweeps, and every other character I see in the world.  I would rather sit in school and consider which of my pupils will turn out to be a hero, and which a rake, which a philopher and which a parsite, then to have an income of a thousand pounds a year! 
• John Adams most enduring political legacy involved appointing John Marshall as Supreme Court Chief Justice; the most ignominious, his signing of the Alien and Sedition Acts, which made it a crime to criticize the government, for which vilators could be imprisoned!  Maybe this is where the gamecock, Patriot Act boys, are getting their authority . . . but, only if it is not, repugnent to the U.S. Constitution, which it is, first amendment right to free speech, freedom to peacefully assemble and the right to redress grievances with the government!  Like the Patriot Act, which I want to challenge as violating the Constitution, this does also, and probably why people see it as his worst act, connected to his name, use it with spies from other countries, or ours who turn on this country, but really, in direct contradiction to the first amendment . . . Bill of Rights was around at that time, so? 
• Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and President James Monroe, all died on July 4th, Independence Day!
• Thomas Jefferson was the quintessential Renaissance man and  has been described as a lawyer, linguist, diplomat, astronomer, naturalist, politial philosopher, education, statesman, president, farmer, musician, scientist, inventor, agriculturalist, horseman, geograpaher, theologian, and paleontoltgis.  Jefferson was fluent in Greek, Latin, French, Spanish, Italian and German.  He was a strong supporter of eqaul rights and education for women, the right to have a free public education, a free library system, and the creation of a decimal system of wieghts and mearsures.  Now, why can't I find a man like this?
• James Madison, wrote Thomas Jefferson's epitaph, it read: Here was buried Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, of the statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom, and the father of the University of Virginia. It didn't include President of the United States!
  
  

IT MIGHT DO YOU WELL TO LEARN A BIT MORE ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA!

I think one of the best things I did, during the 2008 election cycle, was to watch, CNN, I think, cover the lives of the two nominated candidates.  It is usually the story, behind anything, anyone, and even places, that really makes it come alive for you.  Where are they from, what kind of family, their history, education, goals, experience, work history, preferences for jobs, one over another, and what really makes up the man, his marriage, his family.  This documentary, by Wolfe Blitzer of CNN, as the chosen commentator and interviewer, was great.  And I gained a great respect for Barack Obama as a man, with a mission.  I have been astounded at listening to the State of the Union addresses, as well as his critics, and one by one, goal by goal, decision by decision, whether politically agreeing or  not, he has moved forward with his agenda, not in a negative term, but in a determined and focused accent to achieve those objectives, with amazing style and grace, in spite of the challenges. I voted for the man, because he is smart!  And I dig smart, because you can reason with them.  I am totally sick of hearing people, because they don't have anything to say, trash the President, when they don't know what the fuck is going on . . . just what they heard their parents, or their friends, co-workers say, or their Republican politicians, without thought, knowledge, those pesky facts, statistics, and examples to back up their asinine statements!

 

Just today, in the Missoulian--Newspaper is Education--in the Letters to the Editor, Monday, February 16, 2015--B5, in a letter entitled, REPUBLICAN PARTY: GOP ready to create some jobs, by Steven Willis, of Darby, good job, taking them to task.  But he looks at the Keystone Pipeline, that has come as a symbol of the parties disagreements, and looks at the 45 to 50 jobs, that the completed pipeline will create, and compares that to the steady growth of the U.S. economy under President Obama, of 59 months of job cration and about 11 million jobs.  This president was responsible for saving 400,000 jobs in the auto industry.  Republicans wanted to dump Detroit.  I love this part, FACT: Since 1947 the growth of the U.S. economy under a Republican president averages 2.54 percent while under a Democratic president averages 4.35 percent.  Show us your stuff, Republican controlled House and Senate, you have the majority, it is your time to shine for the American people, put up or shut up!  What have Republicans produced in the last 6 years?  Nothing!

 

It is time for people to look at the cold hard facts about our President, and thank him, for doing all that he has done.  I firmly believe, that given the mess he was handed by President Bush, and I sort of thank him for his service, but for the Patriot Act, taking away our constitutional rights, and getting us into two hideous wars, for oil, and tanking the economy, favoring and bailing out his friends on Wall Street, when they were the very criminal component of the people who created the mess!  Thank God, we elected President Barack Obama!  Where would we be now, with Senator McCain and Sarah Palin, I shutter to think, same for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan . . . one fucking scary thought!

The fucking NSA is on again today . . . cursor, is up on the title, so they can follow me and erase what they don't like, while still keeping and taking credit for my blog! Amazing, they can't write them, but they sure as hell, have the technology, when I don't out-fox them, and get one through, actually as it is written!
