America, Americana & Patriotism

American Profile, a weekly insert into most newspapers from around the country, is focusing on the 48th CMA Awards, or the Country Music Awards, and the fact that country music and the military go hand in hand, with many of the big country stars traveling to the places, America has troops, and they seek to entertain the troops, keep their spirits high, through writing songs, that memorialize their acts of valor, stop the pain of a John Dear letter from home, or at least, make a point to the soldier, that their sacrifices are duly noted, and often in the area of love, family, and relationships back home, with difficulties re-entering the normal life, they left behind before being deployed for combat duty, somewhere around the globe.  I was recently talking to some vets, and one was talking about Vietnam, and how, they just cranked up the music, from other genres too, and headed out in their Apache Choppers, to blow the hell out of the enemy, listening to their war music.  When I asked them what war music was, they said, stuff like Born in the U.S.A., Proud to Be an American, and even some anti-war songs from Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, or others.

Country music stars, in particularly, have supported the troops and written about them, with many of the musicians themselves having served in the military, personally, so these songs are up close and personal to them, and about some of the feelings, the friends, and the trauma, that was experienced in, lately, Iraq and Afghanistan . . . you will recognize some of the songs, Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue (Angry American, we'll put a boot up your ass, it is the American way!), Where were you when the world stopped turning; If You're Reading This; Arlington, I Drive Your Truck and 8th of November. Thanks first to the troops, and to the musicians, especially the ones who not only entertain, but also served, and those who keep the troops feeling the worth of what they are doing around the world . . . but, thank God, we are not getting our young men and women involved in every civil war around the world, with other parts of the world and countries, more effected than our country, involved and fighting to protect their own borders, what would the world look like without America?  Thanks, one and all for your contributions!

Big Vote Day Coming Close--Outside Money Trying to Buy a Seat on the Montana Supreme Court!  Buyers Beware, Citizens United!

Interestingly enough, one of the hottest races in Montana, this mid-term election, if for a race, that few, but maybe attorneys, generally pay attention to, and that is who will sit on the bench on the Montana Supreme Court, with two seats open, pitting Supreme Court Justice, Mike Wheat, and his challenger, attorney, Lawrence VanDyke, who is getting a shit load of money from conservative pro-business organizations and political action committees from outside the state, while Wheat is being supported by trial lawyers from within the state of Montana; I am a little worried about both, and both cause me some consternation and consideration.  Originally, I was excited to see a constitutional law attorney, on the ballot, but the problem is, he has only been in the state for two years, and comes from Texas, even though, I believe he has some Montana roots.  Was he scoped out, by out of state conservative groups, with the soul intent, of playing on the constitutional leanings of Montanans, a wolf in sheep's clothing, so to say, hand selected to pull the wool, over the eyes of unsuspecting voters, who love the Constitution, and are worried that activist judges, like allegedly, Wheat is being painted to be, even though he strongly sided with Montana to uphold Montana's anti-corruption laws, and limits on campaign contributions . . . could this be a pay back, and the outsiders, are relying on tricky tactics to get a win, 'he is a liberal', when in reality, is voting on the record, appears to be unbiased, for the most part.

Be careful, labels, don't tell the real story . . . read the newspapers, the letters to the editors, and possibly pull up the Montana State Bar Associations, attorney voting on judges, at least, Utah used to have kind of like a monitoring system on judges, with just the state's attorneys, being able to critique the judges, because they are the ones who know them best . . . generally speaking, only a very small percentage of the people, will ever either have cases that go before the court, or will actually attend a court hearing, which this court, tries to make available to all citizens, as they travel around the state holding oral arguments around the state, like the one, I saw, at the University of Montana, sponsored by the law school, arguing the doughnut hole case, involving the city of Whitefish, and the Flathead County, on who would control the zoning laws for the unincorporated area, surrounding the city, held sometime this summer.  All the big cases, go before the Montana Supreme Court, due to the fact that you don't have another appellate court, like the middle court, a court of appeals, so every case that is argued and appealed, goes straight to the Supreme Court, so it is a really big deal who you get on the bench!  You may have to take the lesser of two evils, and look at the entities supporting the candidates, but remember, that Wheat has practiced for 25 or more years, was appointed to the bench, and VanDyke, has only been in the state 2 years!  Loyalty to the state!!!!!!

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies . . . How Many Men Do We Need in Congress, Making Decisions for Our Bodies, Freedoms, Liberties, and Reproduction?  I Would Say, No More . . . 6 Gynaecologists in Congress is Enough, One Doc (R) had 6 Women Pregnant at the Same Time, 1 Wife, 5 Mistresses!

Don't quote me on that last statistic, but that would make sense from what I have learned about the mindset of the moral majority, that is a cover for dastardly deeds, I believe either Bill Maher or Jon Stuart, reported on the make up of the specialists in Congress, docs, who had spent their entire career, with their heads between a woman's legs, and they still don't necessarily vote on the side of female reproductive rights. Whether you ever use contraceptives or have an abortion, there is always that chance, that life will hit you harder than you want, and you may wants some options open, safe procedures, with a woman's perspective, rather than the thoughts of an almost all male Congress, voting members, with absolutely NO experience in that area, and docs don't either!

That is for sure, one area, I would, say, kind of like Justice Sonya Sotomayor, when she went through the Senate Confirmation hearings, that she would make a better justice on the court, than one more white male! She took heat for that, and was seen as an activist judge, but she was appointed by a conservative, President George W. Bush, not President Obama, and I believe she is right!  You can't have an all white, male, judiciary, that is totally, non-representative, and is biased off the starting block, you need women on the bench, representing areas of the law, that men will never deal with and situations that men will never find themselves in, not matter what their personal and religious beliefs are!  Well, Congress is an area, that is probably, not even as representative as the U.S. Supreme Court, with 9 members, 6 being males!  I am not sure what the make up of the Congress is, house by house, but I know that woman, even with sympathetic and somewhat understanding men, don't even come close, holding hands across the isle, could ever carry a vote on anything to represent female constituents, and sometimes women are their own worst enemies . . . you make up more than 50% of the population, and you continually vote for male candidates!

Think outside the box, and vote a few more qualified women in, and there appear to be a large, relatively speaking, group of good female candidates, many with fathers who were former members of Congress . . . they say, that the best attorneys, or at least law students are the ones who were raised by attorneys, they already know the game, they were raised with those conversations around the kitchen tables, and they may have even clerked for a father while he was running for office, they have seen it up close and personal from a child's perspective, and they are not shying away from the challenge, Just An American Girl, Trying to Make it in Her Daddy's World!  Name title of another country western song, that I love!  Because I am exactly that, the case I took to the U.S. Supreme Court, was a securities case, and my father, a CPA, or a Certified Public Accountant, was investigated by the state SEC or securities division, five different times, and his daughter, not having known that, years later, represented two financial planners, and took on the SEC!

Although, Daddy wanted another daughter, the eldest, I guess a birthright thing, to get the credit, and colluded with my clients, both of which he had associations with, either through the Mormon Church, or other dealings, in the state of Utah.  Nonetheless, I did what I did, whether I got the money or not!  LOL!

'In the Mood" for music?  Herb Alpert, Former Tijuana Brass, Played in Whitefish, Montana . . . Great Philosophy of Life & Music!

Some great quotes, and just a note to musicians, including my son, Elliot, bass guitarist for God's Revolver & Maraloka, who had his music stolen, and a substitute attending the Berkeley School of Music in Boston, where his Mormon aunt Sue, had connections, to substitute in cousin Isaac, aka, Elliot, Mr. Alpert, has some words of advise, and also has some scholarship money available, since the Mormon Mafia, stole my case money and took the fruits of your labor, stopping you, perhaps, Herb, would give you a scholarship and you can transfer, from the music department at the U of U, a great department for sure, but connected to the Rice-Eccles gang, with my client, Jay Rice's, mother, and her husband, a friend of my dad, and your grandfather, whom you should consider an enemy, got an award, several years ago, either for contributing a shit load of money, or she may have been a professor, not sure, but you do know the football field is named after this same group . . . benefactors of your mother's work too!

Great quotes for life, and for musicians:
  • I try to make good music.  If it's fun for me to play it, it will be fun for people to listen to.  I'm doiing what I love.
  • Music is my life, I will continue playing until there is not more air left.
  • I was given this extraordinary gift when I was 8.  I picked up the trumpet and it changed my life, I wanted other young people to have that opportunity . . . referring to his foundation, called the Herb Alpert Foundation, established in the late 1980's, an organization that gives grants and scholarships to young musicians, mission statement is: to create and/or support the mechanisms and means through which young people can discover, harness and fully develop their unique creative energies and their special talents.
  • If I could give one piece of advice to young people today, it would b this: If you are't passionate about what you're doing, don't do it.

Wild Cherry Advice: Play that Funky Music White Boy, Play That Funky Music Til You Die!  Love, Mom

P.S., noting my location, sitting here, McDonald's, after being blocked, from writing this at the Flathead Valley Community College, Resource Center, or Library, Kalispell, Montana, even the librarian, who had set me up an account, tried, after I couldn't log on, and then I went into my guest account, and a student tried to let me in on her student ID, to see if we could beat the Mormon mafia, sister hacker, or Mormon NSA in Utah, but we couldn't, so I have my happy ass, planted at the McDonald's Fast Food, on Idaho Street, Kalispell, Montana!  Just to make sure, you know it is this Mom, and I am writing for Elliot Taylor Secrist, not Shelley, the fraud squad chick and her lazy asshole of a son, Issac!  I would never take the time to fight for a nephew, but, I am damn sure, that Shelley, Sue, Rachel, Kay, and whomever wants to claim they are me and take credit for my children and their accomplishments, are fucking up their own children, who must feel terrible that their own mothers, would rather claim their sister, JoAnn's great kids, and I can't say that I blame them . . . Pain is the Price of FAME!  A quote from American Profile, and so very true, don't we both know it son!  Although, it is Rachel's, mug, or other sisters who got the fame, their apoinis coming, prison, anyone, prison?
